Do Insurance Agents make policies more expensive?

It makes sense: adding a middleman to the process is just going to increase the cost. In a lot of cases, this is true. But what makes insurance agents different?

When you pay your premium to an insurance company, that money gets split many ways. Depending on the type of insurance, the majority of it will go directly towards the claims to fix the problem. Some of it goes to the claims team (salaries) who have to adjust the claim and figure out what needs to be fixed. Another portion of it is for selling and servicing the policy. This is where the agents come in.

Insurance is a fairly complicated financial agreement to transfer risk of loss from an insured to a carrier. Making sure the right risks are transferred for the correct amount of premium falls is a critical part of an Independent Agent's responsibilities. The insurance carrier relies on their agents to find new customers and make sure the applications are done correctly. If we didn't do it, they would have to hire hundreds of sales and service employees to provide the kind of service you expect.

Needless to say, they aren't interested in doing that. In fact, GEICO has changed a long standing policy and has decided to partner with Independent Agents (including us) to sell and service their products. They understand the value they bring (efficient claim handling) and the value we bring (customer knowledge and ties to the community).

This partnership helps keep costs down and service expectations high. Call an agent at 863-606-5147 to see how we can help you save on your insurance needs.
